“London Taxi Rolls About Victorian City”
There’s a new way to get around the jolly old town- in a real London taxi.
Those who are tired of showing up at special events in boring Rolls Royce or trite stretch Hummers can now set a new standard.
“There are only about 250 of these in the U.S.” said Mike Dufner, who along with partner Tom McGowan have started London Taxi Limousine, running out of Ocean City with service to Cape May and beyond.
The company owns two of the British taxis, manufactured in England especially for the stated with left-hand steering wheel.
“Tom bought the first one from an auction,” Said Dufner. “He called me and suggested we out it to good use.”
Hence, London Taxi Limousine.
The taxi was owned by former Pittsburgh Pirates manager, Bobby Bragan, whose initials, “BB” are on the seats.
“People really stare when we drive by in one of these cars,” he said. “It’s sort of a more ‘civilized’ way to travel.”
The stately black limos have room for five in the back, with a glass partition between passengers and driver. (You can communicate via intercom.)
“These are great for any occasion,” Dufner added, “prom, special date, ride to the casino…”
